We are very concerned about food safety, especially with the production of food eaten raw. All wash water is tested for coliform bacteria and ecoli. We also add a small amount of organic-approved sanitizer as a precaution. This spring, our farm manager, Jon Detweiler, will be attending the PSA food safety training which will satisfy the requirements of the new FSMA regulations coming from the federal government (even though we are not yet a large enough farm to have to comply). All these things, along with a written food safety plan and informed workers, should give the buyer confidence in the health and quality of the produce we grow.
Venture Heritage Farm is Certified Organic annually through the Ohio Ecological Food & Farm Association (OEFFA), farm number 2849. The only products we offer that are not certified are our beef and puffed grains.
